Malaysians fund raising for BuddhaNet

The Buddhist Channel, Nov 21, 2007

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- It is the Buddhist world's most famous website. After 11 years in existence, BuddhaNet is still going strong. But managing a long running website, like a marathon, requires consistent sources of funding.

It is in this spirit that the Maha Karuna Buddhist Society will be organizing a fund raising luncheon with the theme “A Lotus Luncheon with Bhante Pannyavaro”.

BuddhaNet, the website managed by Bhante Pannyavaro of Buddha Dharma Education Association Inc. (BDEA) has about 750,000 daily from readers throughout the world.

"The success of the event depends on support from everyone, not just the techies. It will go a long way for the propagation of the Buddha Dhamma throughout the world using modern technology," a source informs the Buddhist Channel.

Various types of contribution have been outlined for those who wish to donate. Individuals, groups, societies as well as organizations are all invited to participate in this meritorious cause.

About BuddhaNet

BuddhaNet is the result of a vision to link up with the growing world-wide culture of people committed to the Buddha's teachings and lifestyle as an online cyber Sangha. In this way, an ancient tradition and the information superhighway will come together to create an electronic meeting place of shared concern and interests.

BuddhaNet is a not-for-profit organisation affiliated with the Buddha Dharma Education Association Inc, which was first established as a Vipassana Meditation Centre in 1992 in Sydney by an Australian meditation monk Ven. Pannyavaro. BDEA has since evolved as a Buddhist Information and Education Service.

As a non-sectarian organisation, it offer its services to all Buddhist traditions. It aims to facilitate a significant Buddhist presence in the ever-expanding realm of computer communications technology, applying this technology to helping make the Buddha's teachings freely available to all.

BuddhaNet is administered by Venerable Pannyavaro and Venerable Bodhicitta and a dedicated team of lay volunteers.
