RTYC New York on Tenzin Delek Rinpoche?s Immediate Release

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, NY & NJ, November 19, 2004

New York, USA -- The release drive for Lithang born Tibetan Buddhist monk Tenzin Delek Rinpoche has been at the pinnacle of list of entire political activists and the supporters of Tibet and the Tibetan cause. TYC launched "Release Tulku Tenzin Delek Now" Campaign in India and all its chapters around the world launching similar campaigns.

The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of New York and New Jersey, at its current juncture is still pressing the door of the United Nations building here in New York. Everyday, beginning November 8th 2004, two or more executive members with some active volunteers waits for the UN officials at the main gate and distribute flyers, urging help from them for the immediate release of the Rinpoche. RTYC NY & NJ will continue with this flyer campaign until December 2nd 2004.

Besides the flyer campaign at the UN, RTYC NY & NJ has so far launched several rallies, prayer vigils and demonstrations for Rinpoche?s release. For two consecutive years (2003-2004), RTYC NY & NJ staged a drama portraying the life and life of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche to the public during the Tibetan Youth Congress Founding Day Celebration).

On November 23rd 2004, RTYC New York and New Jersey is holding a Candle Light Vigil at Ralph-Bunche Park, right in front of the United Nations Building in New York from 4.00 pm. On December 2nd 2004, there will be a mass Demonstration and Candle Light -Vigil at the Chinese Mission in New York from 4.00 pm. On December 10th 2004, (Universal Human Rights Day), RTYC NY & NJ is organizing a day-long Fasting and a Demonstration at Dag Hammarsjold Plaza, (near UN building in New York) from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

On the same day, like previous year (in 2003 with Ven. Palden Gyatso, a former political prisoner of Tibet), RTYC board members will submit petition to the UN High Commissioner, urging for the immediate release of TDR, Panchen Lama and all the political prisoners in Tibet. Along with the petition, RTYC members will also submit the signatures gathered from about 7000.00 supporters, addressed to the UN General Secretary Mr. Kofi Anan, urging him to implement his authority for the release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. On the same day, RTYC NY & New Jersey, upon words from the Centrex President Mr. Kalsang Phuntsok Godukpa la, asked all the North American Tibetan Youth Congress bodies to assemble here in New York to stage a big demonstration collectively in front of United Nation Building.

During the November 7th New York Marathon ?04, in which the Kalsang Dolma Dodin took part, RTYC along with the Tibetans Women?s Association of New York and New Jersey and the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey came up with an idea of having the message of Rinpoche?s immediate release on Kelsang?s shirt so that the message could pass over to more than 37.000 marathoners from around the world and about two million cheerers along the roadside. At the finish line of the marathon, the members pasted many posters of Rinpoche with a message ?You Can Save My Life.?

On August 7-8, 2004, during the 4th North American Tibetan Youth Congress Conference in New York, extensive discussion was held on Rinpoche?s issue and implementation of the resolutions passed during the conference are in action among the TYC chapters in North America.
