by PJ Pilgrim, Malaysia, The Budhist Channel, Jan 25, 2010

I refer to the interview with Ajahn Sumedho where he described his position on bhikkhuni ordination. He explains that he opposes bhikkhuni ordination because he views the arguments in favour of re-establishing this order as premised on modern, western demands for gender equality, individual rights and social justice and fall outside the practice of Dhamma-vinaya.

Why the "Appeal Against the Appeal"?

by Jianxie, Singapore, The Buddhist Channel, Dec 5, 2009

In reply to the letter ‘Buddhism not damaged by wayward monastics, but lay support for their misdeeds’ (http://buddhistchannel.tv/index.php?id=22,8741,0,0,1,0), the letter ‘An Appeal to Drop the Appeal’ (http://www.buddhistchannel.tv/index.php?id=22,8733,0,0,1,0) was written, as stated, to publicly appeal for the ‘monk’ in question to drop his unrepentant appeal against his jail term due to his spelled out misdeeds being so many. It was not to ‘encourage more hatred and anger’. It was sent to him twice too, to which there is no response to date.

Remember, all religions including Buddhism teaches us to cultivate the value of compassion and forgiveness towards others.

A Response to Ajahn Thanissaro’s Letter on the Simultaneous Ordination of 2 or 3 Bhikkhunis

By Ajahn Brahmali, The Buddhist Channel, Nov 30, 2009

In his public letter of 13th November 2009, Ajahn Thanissaro makes the case that ordaining 2 or 3 bhikkhunis simultaneously is invalid and, consequently, so was the recent ordination in Perth. I am not persuaded by Ajahn Thanissaro’s argument, and the rest of this letter is an attempt to substantiate why.
