To help or to pray?

by Danny

Glasgow, UK -- While I am deeply sorrowful for all beings affected by the tsunami, I cannot help thinking that saying a prayer for the victims will get much done.

I feel that the Buddha would have instructed pragmatism in the matter and encouraged lay Buddhists to assist physically or financially, rather than praying.

As a Buddhist, I do not know if there is a divine power that can hear my prayers, but I do know that there are many beings who suffer that I might be able to offer real help, even just throu gh a small donation.

I guess my prayer is that Buddhists all over the world can offer something tangible to the victims of the tsunami, as well as their good wishes.
