President Pranab Mukherjee Greets People On Eve Of Buddha Purnima

New Delhi, India --  President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday congratulated people on the eve of Buddha Purnima, stressing on Lord Buddha's message of love, compassion, non-violence and equality.

In his message, the President said, "On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I convey greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens."

"The message of love, compassion, non-violence and equality preached by Lord Buddha has an ageless significance.

Lord Buddha's teachings serve as an eternal beacon light for humanity," President Mukherjee said.

The President said it should be an occasion for all of us to reiterate our belief in ahimsa (non-violence) and karuna (compassion).

"May Lord Buddha's teachings inspire us to constantly strive for peace, harmony and unity in the world," he said.
