Bhikkhu University to turn International

Anuradhapura, India -- An International Buddhist University will be constructed in a thirteen acre land in Anuradhapura at a cost of Rs. 1,300,000 (US$ 26,500).

The present Bhikkhu University in the sacred city of Anuradhapura will undergo innovations to be converted to the International Buddhist University.

Laying the foundation stone for the administration block of the new university took place on Friday in a picturesque environment in the proximity to Malwathu oya.

The foundation laying ceremony was held under the patronage of the Mahanayake of Asgiriya, Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhita Thero.

Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero, Ven, Professor Kumbulle Seelakkhandha Thera and the North Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake participated in the ceremony.
