Buddhist representative board debuts in Lang Son

Lang Son, Vietnam -- A 23-member representative board of Buddhist followers in northern mountainous Lang Son province made its debut in Lang Son city on October 14.
Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, Deputy Permanent President of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and representatives from the VBS Sangha Council joined thousands of local Buddhists at the debut ceremony.
During its first term from 2007-2012, the representative board plans to work to promote solidarity in the community and build a new cultural lifestyle among the local population.
At the ceremony, Buddhist monk, nuns and followers contributed 10 million VND to help the victims of Typhoon Lekima, which has recently slammed into the country’s central and northern regions.
