Appeal by Malaysian Buddhist Solidarity Group To The Government Of The Union Of Myanmar
The Buddhist Channel, Sept 27, 2007
We, the Buddhists of Malaysia, view the recent developments in Myanmar with great concern. We acknowledge the peaceful march led by members of the Sangha. We have a deep respect for the Sangha and we believe the government of Myanmar; being followers of the Buddha, stand with us in respecting the Sangha as one of the Three Jewels of Buddhism.
As fellow Buddhists, we appeal to the Government of the Union of Myanmar who uphold the Dhamma to act in accordance with the noble teachings of the Buddha.
As the Dhammapada says, "Hatred is not overcome by hatred; only by loving-kindness is hatred ceased". We urge the government to adopt the path of compassion and wisdom and we pray for a peaceful and non-violent solution to the problem that the great nation of Myanmar is facing.
May all beings be well and happy always.
