Take a Stand Against Brutality in Burma
by Tula Connell, AFL-CIO , Sept 28, 2007
Washington DC, USA -- If you’re in D.C., and want to take a stand against dictatorial brutality before you begin your weekend, the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center and U.S. Campaign are holding a rally at the Burmese Embassy today between 3:30 and 4:15, before marching to the Chinese Embassy for a rally until 6 p.m.
The Burmese Embassy is at 2300 S St., N.W., and the Chinese Embassy is at 2300 Connecticut Ave.
Another action option: The Campaign for Human Rights and Democracy in Burma offers several online actions here.
After days of protest by thousands of monks and their supporters against the military regime, Burma’s goverment has killed at least nine pro-democracy supporters and arrested hundreds more. Burmese bloggers are defying security forces and keeping the world informed about events as they happen.
