BELS Offers Fall Courses

Buddhist English Library of Seoul (BELS) newly opened

Seoul, South Korea -- BELS, the first library of its kind in Korea, opened its doors in May 2007. BELS has been created to welcome all those who are interested in studying the compassion and wisdom of Buddhism, especially foreigners.

The Buddhist English Library of Seoul invites those interested to take part in the following course offerings this autumn:

Lecture Series I
*Lecturer: Professor Asanga Tilakaratne of Yonsei University's Department of Sociology
*Subject: The basic teachings of early Buddhism
*Date: Beginning on [September 29], 2007 / Total 8 sessions (each session 1 hour 30 mins)
: 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1 (NO CLASS : 10/20, 10/27)
*Time: Saturday at 5:00 pm-6:30 pm
*Fee: 100,000 Won (per month): Scholarship is available (Monks & Nuns, Students etc.).

Lecture Series II
*Lecturer: Ven. Chong An Sunim of WonKwangsa in Hungary
*Subject: One Mind-One Chance
*Date: Beginning in [Mid-November], 2007 / Total 6 sessions (Two sessions per week)

(Further details will be announced at a later date.)

Meditation Class
* Led by Ven. Pannyabhoga, this class is open to beginners and experienced meditators.
* Date: Beginning on [October 1], 2007 / Total 7 sessions (each session 1 hour 30 mins)
: 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12
*Time: Monday at 7:00 pm-8:30 pm
*Fee: Free of charge (Limited the number of persons)

Group Study
BELS plans to offer two group study programs in English and Korean, respectively, beginning in October in which participants will study and discuss Buddhist texts and materials.

Each study group will be held once a week.

*Fee: 50,000 Won (per month)

Dharma Talks
*Dharma Teacher: Ven. Mu Shim Sunim (Abbot of Mu Sang Sa)
*Date: Beginning on [September 30], 2007
*Time: Last Sunday of Every Month

BELS plans to offer monthly Dharma talks in English by Ven. Mu Shim Sunim.
(Schedules and other details will be provided through the BELS website.)

The Buddhist English Library of Seoul is a 2 minute walk from Anguk Station. Subway orange Line # 3 & Exit from gate # 6.
