Donations from Malaysian Buddhists to Support the
Dongyu Gatsal Ling (DGL) Nunnery in Himachal Pradesh, India

  • There are 114 nuns currently living, studying and practising at Dongyu Gatsal Ling (DGL)

  • They are from the Himalayan regions, mainly Tibet, Lahaul, Ladakh, Kinnaur, Bhutan, Arunachal and Nepal.

  • These nuns range in age from children to mature women. Most have had schooling but occasionally some have received no education at all.

  • In DGL the nuns take on a Buddhist philosphy study program, follow rituals and practices, and goes for retreat.

  • The DGL Nuns usually complete a demanding 12 years study programme.

  • The nuns practice debating every day. Debating helps to deepen understanding of the texts and strengthen the nuns’ self-confidence.

Donation for the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery (DGL) - total collected as at 31 Jan 2024 is MYR 17,000.

The nuns from DGL will be offering Puja blessings on Lunar/Chinese New Year Day, 10 February 2023, which is also the Tibetan New Year (Losar). Names of donors will be read in the blessing ceremony. May the act of generosity being great merits to all donors, their families and their departed loved ones.

NOTE: Due to technical reasons, a "live" feed of the ceremony is not able to be done. A video recording of the ceremony will be posted here once it is available.
